Julie Reis

Dear Parents/guardians,
Welcome to third grade! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about your child’s learning environment. My name is Julie Reis and I graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, and received a Masters degree in Elementary Education at Cambridge College. This will be my 12th year teaching.
I teach utilizing a theme approach, which means that I integrate the core disciplines with each other as much as possible for optimal learning and understanding. My philosophy of education encompasses the use of hands on, social activities. Learning through social interactions such as group learning or group discussions, allows students to gain a better understanding of material by learning from one another’s different views on the topic. I provide my students with a safe, academic environment that will lead to respect and responsibility for oneself and for others.

Third graders love to read, and love to read to others. Even 20 minutes a night can increase their reading skills! Reading aloud, practicing sight words, playing math games, writing stories, using the computer, counting money, practicing telling time and observing the world can make learning at school a whole lot easier and are great ways to enrich your child at home.
*YOU are an IMPORTANT part of your child’s academic success*

I welcome your involvement in our class and look forward to a great third grade
